The Commute

I live on one side of Salem, MA and my workplace is on the other side. As is the case with much of the north shore our streets and roads are not well planned out. Salem’s streets are clogged with traffic starting in mid-summer and that clog remains until November first. In the 25 years I’ve lived in the area the traffic in Salem has only gotten worse. Driving through Salem in October is something I have avoided since I moved here, but I find myself avoiding it sooner. Now I start to notice that I sit longer in traffic starting in August.

My wife and I invested in an eBike so that we could reduce the amount of miles on our car and to see if we liked it.

Thus far I’ve been using the eBike for 71 miles and I love it. I love my regular bike so I suspected that I’d love the eBike. But I wasn’t sure how much I’d like it.

It takes me about half the time to get through Salem via eBike than it does by car.
